Varkala - Velliyazhchakavu

This was actually a small pleasure trip - To our friend's house (Hamrash & Anzad) in Edava. It was a holiday. We (Sunil Chettan, Sarath, Ajith, Murali and me) set the journey early by 8.00 am in Sarath's car. On the way at Kallambalam we met both Hamrash and Anzad. They came in a bike and we followed them to Anzad's house. We had our breakfast there and then went to Hamrash's house. By afternoon, we went to Velliyazhchakavu, a neat Toddy shop in Varkala. The food there was too delicious. The typical toddy food - Kappa, Thala Curry, Beef Olarthu and Netholi Fry.

Then we went to Edava lake. The scenery there was awesome. Spent some time chatting with my friends there.

After that we went to Varkala beach. It is also called Papanasham Beach along the Arabian Sea, part of Indian ocean. It is the only place in Southern Kerala where cliffs are found adjacent to Arabian sea. There are several restaurants and snack bars in and around the beach. The sunset view was beautiful and mind blowing.

We all had a great time together.

  1. Great blog! 🌴 Varkala truly stands out as one of the most beautiful coastal destinations in South India. The scenic cliff views, peaceful beaches, and spiritual vibe make it a must-visit. Your post perfectly highlights why tourist places in Varkala attract travelers looking for both relaxation and culture. Places like Varkala Beach, Sivagiri Mutt, and the cliff cafés add so much charm. It’s also easy to see why this destination is often recommended among the best honeymoon places in Kerala, offering couples a perfect mix of romance, nature, and tranquility. Thanks for sharing such useful travel insights—very inspiring for anyone planning a Kerala trip!
